Dr. Gloria Crutchfield is a Florida licensed clinical psychologist. She was born in Colombia, South America, and is fluent in English and Spanish. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Florida and went on to complete UF’s graduate program (Master and PhD) in Clinical and Health Psychology in 1992. She completed her clinical internship at Duke University Medical Center. Clinical work experience has included several years of community mental health work at Northside Mental Health Center in Tampa, FL, followed by years of outpatient work at Morton Plant Hospital (Behavioral Health Management Services) and local private group practice. Although Dr. Crutchfield has a solid foundation in working with children and families, she currently focuses on work with individual adult clients (ages 18+).
Dr. Crutchfield uses an eclectic approach in her work with clients. She believes in the power, support, and richness of the therapeutic relationship to foster forward-movement in individuals, while also teaching her clients research-based coping and self-regulation skills that will help them feel more empowered and peaceful in their lives. Dr. Crutchfield’s work with clients includes helping individuals gain an understanding of how their past has influenced their current coping style, and how their way of thinking influences their emotions and behaviors. She recognizes that, in a state of safety, encouragement, and hope, individuals can more easily gain insight, explore choices, and take steps that can help them create personal change and become more aligned with their truest, best, and healthiest selves.
